Spring Meeting 2026 Invitation

The OWGS Spring Meeting will take place at Rye Golf Club, East Sussex on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of May 2026.
You are invited to apply to attend by filling in the attached form. Please apply as soon as possible, and in any event before 19 April 2026.
Order of Play
On the Saturday, we will play 18 holes of foursomes in the morning, followed by 18 holes of singles play after lunch, both on the Old Course.
On the Sunday, we will play 9 holes of foursomes on the Jubilee Course in the morning, followed by 9 holes of foursomes on the Old Course after lunch.
Please let us know on your entry form if you have arranged a playing partner for the singles round on Saturday afternoon. Otherwise, I am happy to arrange a partner for you. I will draw the pairings for all the foursomes rounds.
We are restricted in the number of players that can be accommodated. Priority will be given to those applying to play the whole weekend, and otherwise on a first-come, first-served basis. You should assume that your application has been accepted unless told otherwise.
Dinner
There will be a dinner (dress - jacket and OWGS tie) starting at 8.30 pm on the Saturday evening at Webbe’s at The Fish Café in Rye. Please arrive at Webbe’s in time for the Society’s AGM which will start at 8pm.
Accommodation
Accommodation in Rye gets booked up very early for this bank holiday weekend. If you wish to stay in Rye for the Friday and/or Saturday nights, you are strongly advised to make your booking now.
Subsidies
The OWGS will provide subsidies for younger members. For all those aged 25 or under on 2 May 2026, no green fees will be payable and the Saturday evening dinner will be discounted by 50%. For a limited number of those aged between 26 and 30, green fees will be discounted by 50% - these subsidies will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so please apply soon.

Stableford foursomes for the Captain’s Tankards
Saturday afternoon
The O’Brien Trophy: Scratch medal for all participants
The Birkmyre Card: Scratch medal for those aged 60 or over on 2 May 2026
The Captain’s Shield: Stableford for those with handicap index of under 14.0
The Birkmyre Trophy: Stableford for those with handicap index of 14.0 or over
All day Sunday
John Goodeve-Docker Trophy: Highest total stableford scores for both foursomes rounds
Walter Greenway Trophy: Second highest total stableford scores for both foursomes rounds
NB. The John Goodeve-Docker Trophy has been generously donated to the OWGS by John’s family in his memory.
Saturday morning and all day Sunday
The Dutton Trophy: Total stableford scores for all three foursomes rounds

submit your application by making the appropriate payment to:
