About Us
The OWGS welcomes OW golfers who wish to join the Society. We are able to cater for a broad spread of abilities, from scratch golfers to those who play off longer handicaps, all ages and genders welcome.
We have a long history, having been formed in 1923.
We have a busy calendar of matches, meetings and competitive golf from April to October each year, which include The Spring and Autumn meetings, as well as a newly minted pairs league.
We hold many longstanding matches against other Alumni Societies and Clubs, many of which are played at some of the finest courses across the South and South East. We also field sides in The Halford Hewitt, Grafton Morrish, Alba Trophy and The Bernard Darwin, including, its senior iterations, for those members with lower handicaps and a desire to play competitive match play foursomes.
Members are encouraged to apply to play in our matches and meetings without waiting to be invited. It is easy to apply for our events on the Fixtures page of the website.
The OWGS is fortunate to attract OW golfers of all ages. However, we particularly want to encourage younger OWs who consider themselves more casual golfers, to join the Society. Subsidies are available for younger OWs both in membership and fixture fees.
For information on how to join, see the Join Us page. Do come and get involved, you will be very welcome.
